Implementing a large scale software solution is a necessary investment as it reduces overhead expenses in the long run. However, the true value of the program could reach great heights if it’s properly maintained.
One maintenance route involves working with a third-party agency. Requordit serves that role for many of our customers so we understand the value it can bring. However, if an organization can recruit the right people, it all can be maintained in-house.
Here are the two roles needed for any large-scale software implementation:
Database Administrator
This the more public role. He or she is the face of the program and manages the day-to-day issues. Additionally, this person ensures the program’s security protocols are followed and overseas any upgrades or updates.
Database Developer
A developer is charged with building and maintaining the components of the solution. They create queries, tables, forms and more to ensure it meets all the needs of the userbase. He or she would also spearhead the coding for any custom features.
Think of the combination of these roles as checks and balances. They each serve different duties and aspects of the solution but guarantee the work will be done to produce a quality product.
